Toothless but not printer-less

March 17, 2008

This is a gorgeous sunset photo snapped by a member of my mother’s family in Ft. Myers, Florida. Thought I’d share it with the world. Good enough to frame, isn’t it?

Over a year ago, I wrote about the anxiety I felt about having my wisdom teeth out. All four are gone now, removed last Friday. The oral surgeon said that my procedure was more difficult than usual, and he really did beat me up; my jaw is still sore nine days later. The healing process has taken longer than expected, but I’m glad the worst of it is over with. I look forward to eating normally again.

I bought a new printer, an HL-4040CN color laserjet. It weighs more than my old HP3. Fitting it into my living room required the rearranging of one quarter of my apartment, a classic case of mission creep. The good news it can handle 110-lb cardstock well. It’s a little bit power hungry and makes some noise, but it’ll prove invaluable for making prototypes of my game designs, tuckboxes, and for printing out other games and player aids. I’m even thinking of making custom T-shirts using iron-on transfers.

Nifty Wikipedia Thing: The Smoot

Amusing Internet Video: 3CP1: Soviet television parody

Neat Blog: Shorpy’s hi-def vintage photography

Movies I’ve Seen:

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993)

The Mod Squad (1999)

Hellboy (2004) ~ Best of the three, but too supernatural for my tastes.
