United Kingdom, 1 penny, 1981

This feels familiar….

United Kingdom, 1 penny, 1981 (KM #915)

Hey, this one’s from my birth year! This is the last year for KM915. Starting in 1982, the word “NEW” was replaced with “ONE”, completing the decimalization of UK coinage. Like yesterday’s coin, this penny is worth more for its copper content than its face value. Mintage is 301.8 million.
